Children & Pre- and Post-Natal Yoga

Śānti Yoga is pleased to offer yoga programs for children, as well as for expecting and new mothers, in furtherance of our mission to support the whole-health and well-being of our students and families, our community, and our world.

Afterschool Yoga

Grades app. 3 to 6. Children will explore a theme based in Yogic wisdom (such as ahimsa, non-violence, or asteya, non-stealing), made accessible to youth through story-telling, games, song and play, and using fun and friendly yoga psotures. Emphasis will be on the creation of a safe place for each student to explore movement and creativity.

  • 6-week sessions, $75. Each session to include a make-up class to allow for vacations, illness, etc.
  • Payment due prior to first class, unless other arrangements made.
  • Drop-in are ONLY permitted if space allows, and you must call ahead to inquire and to reserve a spot (suggested 24 hours in advance).
  • Drop-in rate is $14 per single class (all activity materials included).

Pre-Natal Yoga Program

Through the Barnes Method of Yoga for Two™, applying Anusara Yoga's Universal Principles of Alignment, pregnant women learn to create stability, building a strong foundation while finding comfort in their changing bodies, opening to grace, and preparing for the celebration of new life. Students learn postures that eliminate the common discomforts of pregnancy, postures that aid in labor and delivery as well as easing post-partum discomfort and distress. The importance of breath-work s also integrated throughout the series

  • 6-week sessions, $90.
  • Payment due prior to first class, unless other arrangements made.
  • Drop-ins to single class ONLY if space permits; you must call ahead to inquire, as well as to reserve a spot (24 hours in advance).
  • Drop-in rate is $20 per single class.

'Mommy-and-Me' (Post-Natal) Yoga Program

Through the Barnes Method, which combines alignment, awareness, breath-work, sound vibration, strength, and community, you will be led in a multi-dimensional postnatal yoga class specifically designed to strengthen your body after giving birth, while practicing yoga with your baby. You will regain the strength of your abdominal and pelvic floor muscles, develop inner– and outer-strength, while also meeting other new moms and babies.

  • 6-week sessions, $100
  • Payment due prior to first class, unless other arrangements made.
  • Drop-ins to single class ONLY if space permits; you must call ahead to inquire, as well as to reserve a spot for you and baby (24 hours in advance).
  • Drop-in rate is $22 per single class

Christina Dubin, RYT, Pre- and Post-Natal Yoga Instuctor

Christina holds a Master’s of Education from Simmons College, and is a Massachusetts state-licensed teacher for grades 5-12. She has experience teaching yoga and art to children of all ages. Christina worked professionally as a high school educator and art department chair at the Landmark School in Pride’s Crossing for 5 years prior to becoming a yoga teacher. In her classes, no matter the age group, Christina strives to create a safe space so that each student is able to express his or her own unique movement and thinking.
