Yoga Instructors

Chris Warner, Founder

Chris Warner (M. Ed., CYT) has been practicing yoga for more than a decade and has had many years of private instruction, both here and abroad. Notably, her teachers in Massachusetts include Janine Grillo-Marra of Revere, Claudia deHaven-Biddle of Snow Lion Yoga of Boston, and Elliot McEldowney of Somerville, MA. Further from home, Chris has studied with Lisa Bickerstaff of Maui, HI, and Carole Cousin of St. Bart's. Most recently, her teachers have included Sarah Powers (Insight Meditation and Yin Yoga) and Paulie Zink (Taoist Yoga, Yin and Flow). Chris holds a Master's Degree in Human Development and Statistics from Harvard University, and taught Research Methods and Statistics at Boston College for several years. She also served a two-year internship at the Sheppard and Enoch-Pratt Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, working with long-term inpatients who presented with a variety of mental-health challenges and addictions. Chris is a Certified Yoga Teacher at the 240-hour level, and is also certified to teach children's yoga at Levels I and II through Marsha Metzger's Color-Me-YogaTM.

Over the last few years, Chris has focused her practice and studies on Yin Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation training. This practice draws upon the tenets of ancient wisdom systems such as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Ayurveda, as well as on the teachings of Tibetan Buddhism and Taoism, non-dualistic philosophies emphasizing harmony and balance, yin and yang, activity and stillness, and above all, awareness and presence in this precious moment.

Chris continues to study and to practice, committed to furthering her personal and professional development, honored to learn and share along the way with her students, but always continuing to be a student herself, cultivating a beginner's mind.

Tara Lapointe, RYT

Tara has been a yoga practitioner and student since 2001. She initially practiced Bikram Yoga for many years before passionately expanding her studies. After receiving a BS in Psychology from Salem State College, she was influenced to explore the relationship of energy systems to emotion, cognition, behavior and health, and further utilized this link as a vehicle for self-transformation. In 2007, Tara received her 200 Hour YOGA ALLIANCE® Certification through The Zarnay Yoga Institute. Tara expresses deep gratitude for the guidance of teacher Debbie Zarnay, and for the support of all her mentors.

Tara's yoga classes blend the precision of Hatha with the liveliness of creative flow sequences. From this foundation, she incorporates body alignment, pranayama (breathing techniques), and both Eastern and Western yogic philosophy to encourage somatic healing through the mind/body/spirit connection. She hopes to share with students the centering force that yoga has been in her own life.

"Teaching yoga is the most fulfilling part of each day. "

"To be a teacher, you must always first be a student."

Suzanne Borgioli, RYT, Vinyasa Flow/Hatha Yoga

Suzanne is honored to share her devotion to yoga with her students, and invites and embraces all who choose come along with her on this journey.

A life-long student, Suzanne continues to freely engage herself by exploring multiple schools of yogic philosophy and by practicing all styles of asana, pranayama and meditation.  In particular, she centers herself through the tireless benefits of Ashtanga, as well as through gentle but focused attention to breath and to free exploration of flowing movement.  She grounds her spirit with Iyengar’s principles of alignment, encouraging her to be fully present in her body. And she remains effortlessly inspired by Shiva Rea’s Prana Flow, and by Master Eric Schiffman’s beautiful and approachable Organic Vinyasa.  Through incorporating the principles of Tantra and Anusara yoga, Suzanne seeks to create a nurturing, compassionate environment for all students, emphasizing the importance of following one’s heart.

Suzanne lives in West Newbury with her husband and two wonderful children, and feels blessed and forever grateful for having studied with her beloved first yoga teacher, Laurie Goldstein.

Josh Anchors

Josh fully embraced yoga eight years ago during his time as an international humanitarian worker. It was then that he realized how easy and beneficial it was to bring his yoga practice with him on assignments. No matter where he was, his time on the yoga mat served as vital period of reenergizing and refocusing. He has since studied a variety of styles of yoga with many wonderful teachers across the country, and recently completed the Level One Baptiste Power Vinyasa Teacher Training. A former competitive rock climber and Ultimate Frisbee player, Josh deeply appreciates the strength and flexibility he has gained through a consistent yoga practice, as well as the clarity of focus that is essential to all aspects of life. Josh holds Master’s degrees in English and Public Health, and currently works as a humanitarian consultant as well as teaching English and French (and Yoga!) at Brooks School in North Andover.

Jennifer Lohers

Jennifer began her practice of yoga 10 years ago and was drawn not only to the movement of yoga but also to the philosophy behind it. She is fascinated by the connection of mind, body and spirit, and is grateful for the opportunity to share her love of yoga with others. Eager to learn different styles of yoga, and to experiment with different approaches in teaching, she considers herself ‘forever a student,’ continually looking to expand and grow her knowledge with the intention of sharing the benefits and helping others.

She teaches to compassionately observe the body and mind, while moving into deep and challenging postures, inviting students to learn from what feels right in their individual bodies. She is dedicated to creating a practice space in which the body feels safe and connected, allowing for growth and expansion to occur. She finds it very fitting that as we strengthen and stretch our physical body, our spiritual and mental body are encouraged to do the same.

Jennifer lives in Lowell with her loving husband and beloved dog, Desi

Mary Taggart, BFA, Artist, and Ashtanga Yoga Teacher

Mary began practicing Ashtanga 12 years ago because the idea of building strength while practicing yoga was very appealing. As a muralist and faux painter, she initially felt that the practice would help improve upper body strength and overall flexibility, as she found that long hours of painting began to manifest as pain in her body.

But once she began yoga, particularly the practice of Ashtanga, it became so much more. The beautiful sequence of asanas truly became a moving meditation, totally ingrained in her body, thus also allowing her the physical freedom to paint, as well as inspiring all other aspects of her life.

Mary first studied and then apprenticed with Monica Veneziano, owner and director of YogaEast, and attended workshops with Manju Jois, son of Patabi Jois, the founder of modern Ashtanga yoga. In her teaching, she hopes to encourage renewed vitality and strength in the body while experiencing the benefits of a spiritual practice, the sacred dance that is yoga.
